Best Man Toast

I am almost embarrassed to tell you about my first best man toast.  In fact, I sort of screwed up everything from not planning a bachelor party to not preparing any best man wedding speech for the toast!!  I have to admit and tell you that I honestly did not know.  No kidding.  The only weddings that I was ever in was my younger brother and sister’s.   I pretty much showed up-white socks and all.

The only thing worse than a bad best man’s wedding speech is not having one at all.  That was me!

So, back to my best friends wedding.  This guy was super particular.  No jokes or anything like that was allowed.   I was called upon to give the toast for Mark and I was honestly tongue tied.  I told about a few of our long distance running escapades in the mountains and that was about it.  I got a few nervous laughs and a lot of dirty looks from family members.

The good thing was that it was over in about 30 seconds!

The groom wedding speech seemed to save the day since he was so prepared.  He had everyone laughing, crying, and sort of mesmerized.  I learned the hard way and asked my best friend  how he was able to have such a killer wedding speech.  He told me he cheated by ordering a bunch of speeches online.  I am sure that I was the only one that knew.  Guess he told me this because my speech sucked so bad.  Little did I know that I would steal his technique for the next 3 or 4 wedding including my own!
